Since attending Chicago Gourmet at the end of September, I've had the amazing opportunity to work with Isabelli Media Relations on a number of media dinners for restaurants in Chicago. Most recently I attended the Parlor Series at The Wit's State & Lake Tavern. The biggest hurdle that I have faced as a food blogger since moving to Chicago is the issue of going out for dinner on a budget. Is this even possible? So when I get the chance to take part in events like this, I job at the opportunity. Beyond the food, it has been a great opportunity to break bread with people who are interested in the same things. Let's be honest, talking with someone who has no interest in the subtle flavors of foods and beverages can be rough when you're a foodie.
"Voted “Chicago’s best restaurant for business lunch” by Crain’s Chicago Business, State and Lake Restaurant prides itself on hospitality. You’ll find a versatile bar area sharing the stage with the main dining room because we want the energy coming from our pub-style bar to mingle with the exhilarating conversation at the tables. You’ll meet people who are glad you’re here and dedicated to serving you a uniquely enjoyable dining experience."
State & Lake Tavern teamed up with Chicago-based craft brewery, 5 Rabbit Cerveceria. Executive Chef Kevin Atkinson and Executive Pastry Chef Toni Roberts worked with four different 5 Rabbit beer and seasonal and local ingredients to create a phenomenal tasting experience.
Ingredients like fried chicken, chorizo and flatbread seen in the dishes above are also common fare throughout State & Lake's regular dinner menu. Attention is paid to every last detail, including that honey that is from The Wit's own honeycombs. Call me impressed - how many hotels do you know that harvest their own honey for their restaurants.
A special thanks to Nick Urig and the entire Isabelli Media Relations for allowing me to be a part of this event and for providing me with some incredible photographs. I cannot wait to return to State & Lake to try their regular menu. Also, be sure to keep an eye out for a 5 Rabbit feature in the future.
