Welp, Christmas has come and gone.
And that means that we only have a few days left until the next big holiday - NEW YEARS EVE.
I am in disbelief that all of 2016 - how quickly it's gone, the good, the bad, and the very ugly. It's hard to imagine all of the things that have happened in the past year. But as I spend this next week preparing for New Year's Eve, I am trying to focus on this next year, rather than dwelling on everything that has already happened. When I think about all of the good that has happened this past year, it only makes me want to take control and fight harder to make my dreams and goals a reality. Talk about self-reflection. I'm all about that stuff.
Let's talk about the actual spectacle that is New Year's Eve for a moment. I hate the large parties. I don't really like staying up until the wee hours of the morning. I like when parties are more low-key. Think a small gathering at someone's apartment. Or a few close friends together at a hotel, getting dolled up, enjoying cocktails, and sleeping in the next morning. That is what I call a solid NYE plan.
The Freehand Chicago is an eclectic hotel in the heart of Chicago's River North Neighborhood. With a bar (Broken Shaker) and cafe (Café Integral) on site, there is plenty to do without every having to leave the hotel. However, there are great museums, restaurants, shops and boutiques all within walking distance.
Best of all? The Broken Shaker just released their new winter cocktail menu - complete with something for everyone. Twists on the classic Old Fashioned, holiday inspired margaritas, and festival cocktails from Felix the Elyx Gnome. So as I prepare for New Year's, I can absolutely say that I'll be staying at the Freehand, getting dressed up in my best bow tie from The Tie Bar, and relaxing the next morning in a pair of long-johns from Mack Weldon.
From me to you, Happy Holidays and have a fun and safe New Year's Eve!
