In a last minute effort to start 2017 on a fresh start, I have frantically started cleaning and purging my belongings in my apartment. I keep seeing people take about living minimalistically and living with only what you need. If I'm being honest, I know that it is highly unlikely that I will be able to fully live a minimalistic lifestyle, but it has made me realize that there is so much clutter that I could do away with.
For example, magazines. Why do I keep issue after issue of Men's Health, GQ, and Bon Appétit? I hardly every go back to past issue to reference a specific article or look at a certain picture. So why do I allow myself to keep the clutter of unused magazines? Toiletries - lotions, shaving creams, bandaids. Yes, some of these things are needed and will be used, however I have some items that have been in my bathroom for years. The matter of the fact is that there is so much that I can do away with.
So as I erratically prepare my living space for 2017, I also want to think about the first day of the year. What do I want to do? What will I eat? After a night out with friends, I know that a low key day in bed is likely the best route. But perhaps a rosemary pear Bellini while I work on writing out my goals and resolutions for the new year wouldn't be such a bad idea. After all, a little post celebration celebration never hurt anyone.

3/4 cup pear nectar or juice
6 small sprigs fresh rosemary
1 (750-ml) bottle sparkling wine, chilled
- Pour 2 tablespoons pear nectar into each of 6 champagne flutes or small wine glasses.
- Place 1 rosemary sprig in each glass and top with wine.
- Serve immediately.
