Weekly Coffee Date.

Today I woke and decided to start a new series on Smak. I like coffee. I hope you like coffee. I am going through life. You are going through life. Why not have a weekly coffee date? Now, I would love to make this a regular thing, sharing a cup of coffee with you each week. This morning I am enjoying a trenta unsweetened iced coffee with two shots of espresso and light ice. Yea, I need it. The idea behind this is to just chat. About food. About life. About frustrations. Goals. Challenges. Anything and everything.

I've noticed lately that I have been a little scatter-brained. I haven't been on top of things like I usually am. I have been having a difficult time holding myself accountable. My library of images and recipes to share with you all has quite honestly diminished completely. I wouldn't say it's because I am not motivated. In fact, it's quite the opposite. I feel so creatively inspired lately, however I've noticed that creativity seeping into other aspects of life.

Things morning I wanted to wake up a little earlier than usual to enjoy a coffee and search the internet for some food inspiration. I wanted to get that tinge of excitement about being in the kitchen that I haven't really felt in a few weeks. Today being Friday, I have a few days ahead of me to whip something up for you. Happy Friday and have an incredible weekend!

In Search of Inspiration.

I have not written an inspiration article in quite some time. From music to interior design, from recipes to style, I am constantly on the lookout from things that inspire me to push myself that much further.

As we all know, I'm a lover of Instagram and a likely on the social media app much too often throughout the day. I am a true millennial in that I love a constant feed of stimuli coming my way. With my impending  30th birthday on the horizon, I find myself looking at interior design blogs and websites of some of my favorite stores (Crate & Barrel, CB2, West Elm, etc, etc, etc) looking for ideas for when I own my own apartment or condo.

Below are just a few examples of the things that have been inspiring me lately.

Fall Inspiration.

Since Mother Nature clearly isn't ready to bring fall to Chicago, I am just going to dream about fall. About waking up on a Saturday morning, brewing a fresh Chemex, and then going for a walk through Lincoln park. There's a crisp chill in the air, leaves are blowing across the sidewalk. Girls are in UGGs and Patagonia, making their way to yoga classes. Pumpkin spiced lattes are the drink of choice.

I love everything about this season and I am in serious need of some fall inspiration. This weekend is going to be a busy one - with Chicago Gourmet on Sunday and quite a hefty workload in terms of blogging. A dose of motivation, and inspiration, is all I need to get my creativity flowing and get me through this weekend!

I haven't had the chance to do my normal blog reading lately because things have been so hectic. That being said, I've had to rely on my regular Instagram trolling techniques to find my musings. Here are some of my recent favorites!

Inspiration This Week.

Happy Monday to all! And to all...is it 5:00 yet?

Sometimes on the weekend, okay, most times on the weekend, I spend an absurd amount of time just looking at pictures online. I love these all and want recreate them. Or frame them. Or spend a day with the person and just take pictures. Especially of food.
