I know that studies show that breakfast, specifically a healthy one, is the most important meal of the day. It can help improve concentration and performance throughout the day. It gives you more strength and endurance to engage in physical activity and it can also help lower cholesterol levels. I get it. A healthy breakfast is important.
It is even more important because I recently started working out regularly with a personal training and I need to replenish my body after a tough workout. I am ashamed to say that more often than not, I don't the right breakfast. If I am tight on time I will grab a BelVita breakfast biscuit or a yogurt and that's it. I always try to at least have a protein shake following any workout, but I am beginning to realize that there needs to be a change in my morning routine.
I've always been a fan of juices and smoothies, every since I lived in New York City. This particular recipe includes avocado, which let's face it, makes everything better. And the combination of the orange, pineapple and coconut water give it a tropical summertime vibe, something that is much welcomed on a cold Chicago day. (Does someone want to talk me to someplace warm on vacation?)
Do you have a favorite combinations for smoothies? Leave them in the comments below and I will try them out!
1 large navel orang, peeled and quartered
1 cup fresh pineapple, diced
3/4 cup fresh coconut water
- Add all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
