| Three Floyd's Brewery | 9750 Indiana Parkway Munster, IN
As I sat at the high top waiting for my beer to come, the sounds of electric guitar and insane drums penetrated my ears. It wasn't just rock or alternative music playing throughout the beer pub, it was songs by Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath and Megadeth. It was evident how much I fit in - my neatly styled blonde hair, my beard neatly trimmed to a 5 o'clock shadow. I wore purple gingham shirt from J.Crew and a pair of lightly washed jeans from Levi's. In other words, I stuck out like a sore thumb. The clean-cut style of my parents and me stood in stark contrast to our waitresses pink hair and elaborate eagle tattooed across her chest.
The day trip to the Three Floyd's Brewery was a last-minute decision to get out of the city from a much-needed break from the stress of urban living.
When I was told that we would have to leave by 8:00am to get there before the brewpub open, I thought I was being punk'd. After a night of heavily poured glasses of wine, lots of talking and laughing, and plates and plates full of appetizers, sleeping in, even to a measly 9:30am was what I had hoped for. Tommy was out of luck. So I trenta unsweetened iced coffee from Starbucks would have to hold me over.

Located in Munster, Indiana, Three Floyd's Brewery is a small facility tucked back into an industrial parkway. Warehouses, distribution facilities and empty fields are all that surround the brewery. Around since 1996, the craft beer is sold primarily in the Chicagoland area. With complete control over the amount and to whom they distribute to, the brewery has kept their beers as somewhat of a "hot commodity." It is something worth seeking after.
As we drove up to 9750 Indiana Parkway a good 25 minutes before the opening, lines had already formed to get in. Are these people for real?, I thought to myself. I hadn't wanted to drink that early in the morning since I was a freshman in college. And here were grown adults standing around to drink before noon. Winning. Clear winning.
Heavy metal music aside, everything about Three Floyd's Brewery is worth the drive into Indiana. I already knew that I would enjoy the beer, as I've had it on numerous occasions in Chicago. The food however, that was something I did not have high expectations for. Call me surprised when our tattooed waitress brought out delicious, review-worthy food. In all seriousness, this classic pub food when far beyond the simple expectations of pub food.
Three Floyd's Brewing - thank you for being frickin' fantastic!
